Loretta Gratani, Maria Fiore Crescente, Laura Varone, Giuseppe Fabrini, dan Eleonora Digiulio pada 2008 menulis sebuah buku berjudul Growth pattern and photosynthetic activity of different bamboo species growing in the Botanical Garden of Rome. Di situ dituliskan bahwa terdapat lebih dari 1,450 jenis bambu yang ada di dunia ini.
